UNIT 3 WEEK 3
SUFFIXES
SUFFIXES are word parts that are added to the end of a base word to change the meaning.
-FUL means "to have" or "full of". For example thankful means to be full of thanks.
-Y changes a noun to an adjective. For example, cloudy.
-NESS means "the state of" or "the quality of". For example, kindness is the quality of being kind.
If a word ends with y, we change it to an i before adding -ful or -ness.
happy + ness = happiness
